ROCA January 2005 Workshop

Agenda for ROCA Mini-Workshop

Purpose
The purpose of this 2-day workshop is to coordinate the production of a collaborative paper that will evaluate the effects of a land-use change (forest to reclaimed mine grassland) on ecosystem properties and processes.

Date and Location
The workshop will be held at West Virginia Wesleyan College on January 10-11, 2005.

Attendance
All ROCA participants are invited to attend.

Tentative Agenda

Sunday (9 Jan 2005)
Arrive and check-in at Hampton Inn, Buckhannon, WV

Monday (10 Jan 2005)
8:30 Continental breakfast at WVWC
9:00 Presentation of tentative manuscript outline; discussion of objectives, hypotheses, scope, and direction of manuscript
10:30 Break
10:45 Generate outline of Results, including a list of data and information to be included
12:00 Lunch
1:30 Generate outline of Introduction, Methods, and Discussion sections
3:30 Break
3:45 Alone or in small groups: Data analysis, summarizing data, writing of sections of paper
5:00 Break
6:00 Dinner

Tuesday (11 January 2005)
8:30 Breakfast at WVWC
9:00 Alone or in small groups: Data analysis, summarizing data, writing of sections of paper
10:30 Break
10:45 Discussion of results, assign participants to a particular data set or section of the paper; Establish time frame and deadlines
12:00 Lunch

Outcomes
At the end of the workshop we will have a nearly-completed manuscript. All participants will have assigned tasks and a timetable for completion of the tasks. I anticipate completion of the manuscript by May 31, 2005 and submission to a peer-reviewed journal in June 2005.
